Following services this week, we'll have a lunch & learn with Matt Plen, chief executive of Masorti Judaism in the UK. Matt will speak on the following:
Kedoshim: What’s Jewish about social justice?
We talk about Judaism as a tradition of justice but most Jews’ views on social action come from modern, political ideologies, not the tradition. By looking at this week’s parasha and the writings of seminal 20th century Reform theologian, Eugene Borowitz, we’ll explore whether there is a distinctively religious, Jewish view of social justice.
This will be a packed Shabbat, starting at 9am with a Torah breakfast at 10. Stay on for Matt's talk and that's two meals taken care of. ;)
