Our Films and Art
Over the years, we have had a number of films and art projects featuring our community or our members. Scroll down to see some of these.
#My Masorti - A Film by Jonathan Burns
This video was the runner up in the "Reel Masorti" video competition in late 2016. It features members of Kol Nefesh Masorti Synagogue and other members of Masorti Judaism in the UK (http://www.masorti.org.uk/). Jonathan was 15 at the time he made the film, and we're very proud of him!
EAJL Diploma Award Ceremony for Simon Gordon
Simon Gordon, a member of Kol Nefesh Masorti, became the third student to obtain the Ba'al T'fillah Diploma from the European Academy for Jewish Liturgy (EAJL). The diploma was awarded at New London Synagogue on 24th February 2019, 19th Adar HaRishon 5779, and a recoding of this wonderful event is here on YouTube
EAJL (the European Academy for Jewish Liturgy) was set up in 2007 by Chazan Jacky Chernett and provides competent lay individuals and groups with dedicated professional coaching and mentoring in leadership of Jewish prayer. At Kol Nefesh, Chazan Jacky leads services, and teaches our own lay leaders, including Simon, to lead services for Shabbat, Haggim and the Yamim Nora'im.
Hands Across the Lands
Find out how the youth of Kol Nefesh Masorti synagogue in London connected with the Mayanot community in Jerusalem during the COVID lockdown. The project was the inspiration of Marc Morris, a professional photographer and member of Kol Nefesh Masorti, and was supported by the UJIA.

The Kol Nefesh Tapestries
In the early 2000s, the Kol Nefesh community - every family or member - joined together to create two original tapestries based on the weekly parashot. Each member or family took home a square of fabric, and returned with a personal reflection, expressed in paint or collage, on one parashah. A group of members then stitched the panels together to create wall hangings.
Unfortunately, in our present rented accommodations we cannot display the tapestries, which are in storage. As a next-best option, here we present here some of the panels.
