The 7 Beggars - a 4 -part series with Rabbi Joel

Sippurei Ma'asiyyot is a famous collection of Chasidic stories told by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov and written by his disciple and scribe Nathan of Breslov. The stories were published in 1815 in accessible Hebrew and Yiddish. The best-known of these stories is “The Seven Beggars”, which contains many fascinating and elusive themes and allusions. In this short series of four sessions, we will begin to read “The Seven Beggars” in English and uncover some of the strange richness of its imagery.

Starting January 27th at 7:30pm on Zoom

A Journey Through Cinema

Each week, join KNM member Gabi Peretz for a cinematic journey.  Monday evenings at 7:30, on Zoom, starting on Nov 24th.  We'll be exploring some of the greatest films ever made, beginning in the landmark year of 1939. Each session will look at the most significant films of the year, along with their cultural and historical context, with discussion and a vote to decide which film truly deserves to be Best Picture. This is your chance to correct the mistakes made at Oscars and BAFTAs past, discover the masterpieces you may have missed, and argue politely but passionately, about what makes a cinema classic.
