Next meeting: Date & venue to be confirmed.
Previous plays and books included 'A Memory of Two Mondays' by Arthur Miller, 'Awake and Sing!' by the Jewish American playwright and social activist Clifford Odets, 'The Hare with Amber Eyes' by Edmund de Waal and 'Far to Go', by Alison Pick. We recently read 'Exposure' by Israeli-Arab author Sayed Kashua and discussed the book following the Jewish Book Week talk by the author at King's Place, London. We have also read Kashua's first novel, Dancing Arabs, and another Israeli novel The Zigzag Kid by David Grossman.
We visited the Jewish Museum exhibition on 'Jews in WW1' in May, and discussed World War One literature, together with KNM member Shelley Swade talking about her relative, the WWI poet Isaac Rosenberg.
The next book is Ari Shavit's 'My Promised Land': remember to link to Amazon via the KNM website to earn a few extra pennies for the shul if you buy the book or download it.
A review of the book is in the NY Review of Books:
