This year, we will be supporting two projects:
Joely Bear
Edgware Blood Donor Centre (on the site of the hospital). Minimum age 17.
Blood donation session in memory of Joel Renak.
The Joely Bear appeal is urging anyone who wants to give blood this Mitzvah Day to book in advance. The link will take you to booking for both the Edgware and Borehamwood sites. We're anticipating that most of our members will choose the Edgware Centre. For those living closer to Borehamwood, the Borehamwood Centre is also available but nearly fully booked at this point.
Volunteers to help on the day are also needed, especially anyone talented in face painting. Volunteer shifts will be approximately 90 minutes, and they are looking for 50 volunteers from Edgware communities. For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, please contact volunteers@joelybear.org.uk.
Please note - Rabbi Joel will be with us on the 19th, and will likely be holding his usual Sunday morning shiur (normally from around 10 to 11.30) - so if you want to come to the shiur try to book with Joely Bear in the very early morning or in the afternoon.
Barn Hill Conservation Group
Fryent Country Park is the large open space in Brent near JFS school. On the day they’ll be working on a pond that has become overly packed with reeds. The aim is to improve the pond by making a clearing in the reed-bed, cut encroaching sloe, and also to reduce nearby hedges that have become overgrown. The work involves hand tools such shears, loppers and slashers. Tools and working gloves provided. Light refreshments also provided.
Session is from 10 till 12:30. Wear outdoor footwear (it may be muddy) and working clothes suitable for weather conditions on the day.
Meet at the in the lay-by opposite Fryent Way Car Park. See meeting point 10 on the map shown here. See www.bhcg.btck.co.uk for other details.
Anyone wishing to join in, please let Maurice Gold know in advance so they can bring along sufficient tools (maurice.gold@idnet.com).
