Theatre Outings - February and March

All are invited to join us for these theatre outings!

1. Rothschild & Sons - Motzei Shabbat (Saturday night) February 3rd

Rothschild & Sons is a musical about the Rothschild family being staged at the Park Theatre in January and February. This is a one-act reimagining of the nine-time Tony-nominated The Rothschilds (inspired by Frederic Morton's book of the same title) from the 1970s. This new version of the musical is billed as "the tale of a family fighting for human rights and struggling against extraordinary odds. Sherman Yellen has restructured his original book to focus on the relationships between patriarch Mayer Rothschild, his wife Gutele, and their five sons, and the score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick includes several never-before-heard songs and others newly revised."

The Kol Nefesh Book Group has moved its February meeting to Sunday February 4th so we can discuss the play. All are invited to join us! We'll gather at 3pm at Rochelle's home. Contact Rochelle on rochellebloom@hotmail.com for the address.

Please book your own seats. Click here for more information and to book.

2. Arthur Miller's Broken Glass - March (various dates), with a discussion after shul on Shabbat March 10th

Brooklyn, 1938. Phillip and Sylvia Gellburg are a married couple living increasingly separate lives. Phillip is obsessed with getting ahead, in a real estate company where he is the only Jew. Sylvia is disturbed by news of Kristallnacht from Germany. In a single night, the Nazis destroyed thousands of Jewish homes and businesses, smashing windows and burning synagogues. Haunted by these images, she becomes ill and is unable to move. Phillip takes her to see the popular and attractive Dr Harry Hyman, whose ‘talking cure’ has unexpected consequences.

Broken Glass will be playing at the Watford Palace Theatre in March - a perfect opportunity for another KN event! Jacky has offered to host a discussion over a potluck lunch after shul on Shabbat the 10th. Please make your own arrangements to see the play (KNers are known to be going on Motzei Shabbat March 3rd and on Thursday the 8th). Click here for more information and to book.
