TISHA B'AV

Tisha B'Av (the 9th of Av) is an annual fast day which commemorates the anniversary of a number of disasters in Jewish history, primarily the destruction of both the First Temple by the Babylonians and the Second Temple by the Romans. The tradition is to read from Megillat Eichah (the book of Lamentations) and to recite special psalms of mourning (kinot).

This year (2023/5783), Tisha B'Av starts on Wednesday 26th of July, and continues through Thursday the 27th.
