YOM HASHOAH

Yom HaShoah 2019 -2.jpg

In light of the Covid-19 lockdown, we will not be observing Yom HaShoah together in person this year.

Yellow candles for Yom HaShoah can be ordered directly from Maccabi GB. Please email candice@maccabigb.org, and they will post the candles directly to you at home.

Candles are also available in most of the kosher shops.

In addition, while the annual UK stadium event to commemorate Yom Hashoah has been cancelled, it is still possible to honour our pledge and remember together as one through the wonders of technology.

The national Yom Hashoah commemoration will be on MONDAY 20TH APRIL, 7:30PM–8:45PM. Full details can be found here.

Play-viewing and community discussion

One of the plays now streaming online for free is 'Amsterdam', by the prize-winning Israeli playwright Maya Arad Yasur.

An Israeli violinist. Living in her trendy canal-side Amsterdam apartment. Nine months pregnant.

One day a mysterious unpaid gas bill from 1944 arrives.

It awakens unsettling feelings of collective identity, foreignness and alienation. Stories of a devastating past are compellingly reconstructed to try and make sense of the present.

We will hold a community discussion about the play on SUNDAY 26TH APRIL at 11am.

The play is available to stream for free on YouTube, here, or via the Orange Tree Theatre, here.

Connect to the community discussion on the 26th via the usual Kol Nefesh Zoom link, here. Do invite your friends to join ... everyone is welcome.
